Well, I went to see the Phantom movie last night while english_alien was at his work's Christmas night out. I actually did like it. Okay there some parts of it that the jury's still out on, but by and large I thought it was a great version. Gerard Butler wasn't as good as I hoped he'd be. His entrance wasn't as striking and intimidating as some Phantoms I've seen and one or two parts that I can think of, off the top of my head, made be cringe a little. Emmy Rossum made a good Christine, not outstanding but did a geat job and I really liked Jennifer Ellison as Meg. Minnie Driver made a brilliant Carlotta - very over the top with it and it was hilarious to watch. I wasn't overly impressed with Patrick Wilson as Raoul, primarily because he seemed too modern the way he carried himself and delivered some of his lines - good voice though.

Apart from that I've been getting seriously obsessed with "Wicked". Heard "Defying Gravity" and loved it and now I have looked out other songs and love them too - particularly "No Good Deed". Idina Menzel rocks as Elphaba! Reading the book at the moment as well and I'm really enjoying it.

Fiddler rehearsals are going alright. We had a run through of Act 1 wich went well enough but could have gone better. Really gotta work on the dance routine.
